TUNING
At last, an affordable supercharger solution designed for BMW M42/M44 16 valve engines that could produce 200HP+ at the flywheel from a standard engine.


To help keep costs low GKD supply a kit of parts that includes all the specialist fabricated items needed to install an Eaton M45 supercharger from a BMW Mini Cooper S to your BMW M42/M44 engine. This leaves you to source the supercharger and engine management system of your choice. Unlike others, the GKD Supercharger Kit utilises a CAD designed, CNC machined and fully TIG welded aluminium plenum and intake manifold that is professionally designed to ensure that all OEM components fit with a minimum of fuss. In addition to the parts above you will need new gaskets, fuel pipe & fittings, etc. To complete the installation you will also need to choose one of the three management/fuelling options listed below.
GKD Supercharger Kit Contents:
  • Plenum - Aluminium CNC machined and fully TIG welded. Designed to accept standard EV1 style injectors
  • Throttle body intake - Aluminium CNC machined and fully TIG welded
  • Idle pulley bracket
  • Supercharger support bracket (Not suitable for E30 M42)
  • 12mm banjo to 8mm fuel pipe connector for use with M44 fuel rail
  • Nut & bolt fitting kit

Management/Fuelling – NOT SUPPLIED

Aftermarket ECU, Replacement Engine Loom & Fuel Injectors
The preferred option is to replace the existing BMW ECU and fuel injectors with an aftermarket Plug and Play ECU from K-Data along with Bosch Greent Giant 44occ fuel injectors. This solution gives the best possible control over your newly supercharged installation and enables extremely fine tuning to maximise its potential. Most importantly it allows the engine to be mapped to create peak power/torque at any given RPM whilst also delivering the correct Air-Fuel-Ratio throughout the entire rev range to ensure that the engine runs neither too lean nor too rich for maximum performance and engine safety.

Fitting Notes

318iS / 318ti E36
RHD
If the battery is located in the engine bay then it will have to be relocated to the boot to allow clearance for the throttle body intake (the items required to do this can be sourced from any 6 cylinder BMW E36).
LHD
The brake fluid reservoir will need to be relocated to the suspension tower to allow clearance for the throttle body intake (a list of the items required to do this can be supplied by GKD upon request).

Z3 E36/7
RHD & LHD
No major changes required for fitment.

318iS E30
RHD & LHD
When fitting to the M42 engine in the E30 318iS the pulley system must be swapped to serpentine multi-V items (6PK belt), these can be sourced from a later E36 M42 engine.
The brake fluid reservoir will need to be relocated to the suspension tower to allow clearance for the throttle body intake (a list of the items required to do this can be supplied by GKD upon request).
A bracket will need to be fabricated to support the weight of the supercharger as the bracket provided is designed to be used in conjunction with an E36 engine mount.
